The National Weather Service in Paducah has surveyed storm damage from the Wednesday night tornado that traveled from Ballard County to the Ohio River near Paducah.

They determined that the tornado was an EF-2 with peak winds of 114 miles per hour.

It traveled 19 miles in 16 minutes from 8:18 until 8:34 pm.

The tornado's path began near the community of Gage in eastern Ballard County, snapping power poles and doing damage to several barns and outbuildings. One barn appears to have been totally destroyed. 

The tornado then did significant damage to a church near Gage where four members of a family sustained serious injuries while attempting to shelter under an awning. 

The tornado continued eastward into McCracken County where it did serious damage to a church just south of Barkley Regional Airport.

The tornado skirted around McCracken County High School to the west and north. It crossed US 60 just east of Mayfield Metropolis Road. It continued east down Hinkleville Road. Trees and power poles were damaged along with minor damage to home and business exteriors.

The surveyed path indicates it passed across the mall area near Sam's Club and crossed I-24. 

The tornado crossed Coleman Road and Old Cairo Road, where the track ended at the Ohio River near the Brookport bridge.
