The ceremony and the open house were both well attended. The event's attendees included local and state government leaders as well as supportive community members, and offered a perfect opportunity to kick off the registration for the spring semester.
The program welcomed several speakers including Senator Dale Fowler, Representative Terri Bryant, Cairo Mayor, Tyronne Coleman, business leader Edward Smith, local superintendents, Shawnee College board of trustee member Don Patton, and college president Peggy Bradford.
Shawnee Community College President Peggy Bradford commented: “We are delighted to be part of the rich history of Cairo and are confident that this location will serve the residents of our district for many years to come.”
Shawnee College Board Trustee Don Patton remarked, “Access is important, and we are grateful for all of the revitalization efforts recently taking place in Cairo including our efforts in opening this new center in Cairo pointing us towards the future.”
The New facility is scheduled to begin classes during the Spring 2019 semester, and registration is going on now. For more information, contact the college at 618-634-3200 or visit www.shawneecc.edu.
