A Paducah man was arrested Saturday after a collision in Metropolis.
According to the Metropolis Police Department, the person who called about the accident said one person was trying to leave the scene after his vehicle hit a pickup truck. Police responded to the 300 block of Ferry Street and spotted a car with a broken axle. Witnesses told officers the driver was trying to leave but the car wouldn't move.
Police spoke to the driver of the car, 24-year-old Jordan E. Choat, and say they smelled alcohol and marijuana on him. After he failed field sobriety tests, police arrested Choate on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed.
Choate was taken to Massac County Detention Center.
