Interstate Shooting Injures Three Cairo Men

Three Cairo men were shot early Friday morning on Interstate 57 near Dongola.

The Illinois State Police says troopers were called to investigate a shooting at around 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 57 near exit 24.

Initial information revealed a vehicle had been struck several times by gunfire and three occupants were injured.

All three occupants, aged 18, 28 and 31, are men from Cairo. They were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not release any further information about the shooting, but said their investigation is ongoing.
