The Paducah Police Department is warning of continuing scams in the area.
Police said scammers are using phone calls, texting, and emails, pretending to be from government agencies.
Scammers may claim that a person owes money, be threatened with arrest, or be promised benefits.
However, according to police, government agencies will never demand payment over the phone or ask for gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
They encourage the public to hang up if something feels suspicious, and contact the agency directly using a verified phone number.
