Paducah's Board of Commissioners on Tuesday heard a financial review from John Hodges with the Joint Sewer Agency.

The current residential rate is $6.61 per 1000 gallons with a 3000 gallon per month minimum. The average resident uses about 4500 gallons for a fee of $29.74. 

JSA, a utility that was formed in 1999, has roughly 19,350 accounts. 

JSA’s operating revenue for the previous fiscal year was $10,470,000, and its operating cost was a little more than $5 million. 

JSA has a current debt of $34.3 million which corresponds to an annual debt service payment of $2.435 million.

In other action, the board approved a $110,725 application for a 911 services board grant.

The funding will be used to support the Next Gen 911 Road Map amd enhanced NG911 mapping guide standards.

Commissioners approved first reading of an ordinance to close an alley west of South 16th Street between Kentucky Avenue and Washington Street.

The alley will be used for construction of the new Paducah/McCracken County Senior Citizens Center.  

The board also approved a $602,071 Kentucky Pride Fund Composting grant.  

The funds will allow eligible applicaants to divert materials from being landfilled and directing them to composting.
