As McCracken County residents begin receiving their property tax bills towards the end of this week, the McCracken County Sheriff's Office reminds taxpayers to be aware that there is a new 911 fee attached to most property tax bills.

Most homeowners will see a $45 fee.

The new fee is to fund 911 infrastructure as well as the operation of the 911 center. The reason is that landline phone usage has dropped, which has been the source of 911 revenue for many years.

The Sheriff’s Office is only responsible for collecting property taxes and the 911 fee, and cannot change a property tax bill.

For questions pertaining to the 911 fee, please go to mccrackencountyky.gov. City of Paducah residents will be paying the 911 fee to the city on their city property taxes.
