McCracken County man dies in traffic accident

A single-vehicle crash in the Farley area claimed the life of a McCracken County man and sent a child to the hospital. 

The crash occurred just before 9 a.m. along Benton Road near Georgia Street. Reidland-Farley Fire Department units responded along with the McCracken County Sheriff's deputies after a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Roger Hyatte crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, ran into a ditch, and then up an embankment coming to rest on a chain link fence. According to firefighters, the driver had to be removed from the vehicle.  

Both Hyatte and a five-year-old female were taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.

Hyatte succumbed to his injuries while the girl was taken to an out-of-state hospital for further treatment.
