The return to "average" weather for the region could be only a few days away, but not before another dangerously cold weekend.
Light to moderate snow will accompany the arrival of an Arctic cold front this morning. A light dusting of snow is possible, but no significant travel impacts are expected. Flurries in western Kentucky could be a bit more significant in the Pennyrile toward Evansville.
Bitter cold temperatures and dangerously cold wind chill values are forecast today through Saturday morning. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire area late tonight through Saturday morning. Single-digit lows and some negative wind chills are possible.
Temperatures will finally begin to moderate back toward more normal values early next week. The average historical high for Paducah in early February is 46 degrees, and 50 after Valentines Day.
While confidence is low, the next chance of widespread wintry precipitation is forecast Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. A light wintry mix of rain, snow, or freezing rain is possible, especially Tuesday night.
