St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paducah is getting set to feed the masses once again to support local charity.

BBQ on Kentucky will take place next Saturday, August 19 in the church's fellowship hall at 21st and Kentucky Avenue. Folks can come by between the hours of 4:30 and 7 p.m. to either eat in or carry out barbeque pork or chicken plates for $10 each. Children under nine accompanied by a paying adult eat free.

Diners can choose either pulled pork or chicken, cooked by the Buzzard Brothers. Plates are served with beans, coleslaw, dessert and a beverage.

Mike Legendre with the St. Paul Lutheran Church Men's Club says net proceeds from this year's event will go to benefit HOPE Unlimited, a charity that provides services to support and empower expecting parents, existing families, and those caring for children. Services provided by the charity include pregnancy tests, parenting classes, prenatal care, ultrasounds and more.

This will be the sixth year the church has been holding the event, and in that time Legendre says they have worked to raise as much money as possible to benefit local charities. "We started doing this in September of 2011. We do it once or twice a year. We try to support a local charity each time, and since we've been doing that we've raised about $17,000." He said.

Legendre says the church has a member who has been active with HOPE Unlimited on a regular basis, and that their Men's Club has taken an active role in fundraising for the organization. For more information about the event, or to pre-order call 270-442-8343.
