David Festa struck out a career-high nine over five innings, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago Cubs 3-0 on Monday night.
The Cubs were held to four hits after their offense had awakened the past several games. Pete Crow-Armstrong managed a double for Chicago's only extra-base hit. The Cubs were shut out for the 11th time this season, already three more than all of last year.
Kyle Hendricks (3-10) kept the Cubs in the game by scattering five hits in six innings and keeping the Twins within two runs before he departed.
Minnesota drew within 3 1/2 games of AL Central-leading Cleveland, the closest the Twins have been to first place since before play on May 18.
