Murray State's football squad fell 40-32 to Illinois State on Saturday afternoon during MSU's homecoming festivities at Roy Stewart Stadium.
The Redbirds' Tommy Rittenhouse passed for 347 yards and a touchdown, to offset the Racers' air and ground attack.
Murray State (1-6) was paced by two passing touchdowns by Jayden Johannsen, and another pair of TDs on 104 yards rushing by Jawuan Northington.
The fourth-largest homecoming crowd ever of 15,991 were also treated to a game-ending 51-yard field goal by Murray's James London. It was his third field goal of the season over 50 yards.
The Racers will stay home to face No. 2-ranked North Dakota State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
