With opening day just a month away, the Paducah Chiefs are still looking for a few more host families for their team members.
The college players that come to Paducah to play rely on the community to step up and provide a place for them to stay during the two-month season. Chiefs General Manager Greg McKeel told West Kentucky Star that at least three host families are still needed for players. It's a show of generosity that has sparked some lifelong relationships.
McKeel said, "Host families provide the much-needed stability and support for these young players who travel to Paducah to play for the Chiefs. Even though this is for only two months, I have seen host families and players develop relationships that continue for years. They are truly extended family members.”
McKeel, who has opened his home to players, added, “Being a host family for one of these amazing players is one of the best experiences that I have had."
The Chiefs open play in the Ohio Valley League, a college wooden bat baseball league, on Thursday, June 1st at Brooks Stadium against Fulton.
To find out more about being a host family this season, McKeel said to call 270-210-9766 or email paducahchiefs@gmail.com.
