Murray State University's athletic department announced Friday that they will begin a pilot program for the sale of select alcoholic beverages at Racer football home games this season.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase beer, seltzers, and other offerings at select concession stands along the Roy Stewart Stadium concourse. With the pilot program in place, Murray State joins all other Division I institutions in Kentucky and its peers in the Missouri Valley Football Conference as programs that sell alcohol within their football venues on game day.

"We are constantly exploring unique ways to further enhance game day for our fans, and the ability to sell alcohol at home football games shows our commitment to providing a world-class experience," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said.

The following regulations will be in place for all alcohol transactions made at Murray State football events or events at Roy Stewart Stadium where alcohol is available for purchase:

Sales will have a limit of two per transaction.

Alcohol is not permitted to leave the venue.

Alcohol sales will stop at the end of the third quarter.

An identification check will take place with each transaction by the Sodexo food service company.  Fake IDs will be confiscated and individuals will be referred to law enforcement. Students presenting fake IDs will be subject to the student conduct process.

Future alcohol sales at other sporting events and other venues are currently under review.

Murray State's home football opener is Saturday, September 7th against Butler at 6 pm.
