The official start of the college basketball season is less than two weeks away and Murray State Athletics has made a major commitment to enhancing the game day experience for Racer fans while attending games inside the CFSB Center.

Two of the most visible changes made for the upcoming season are the newly installed LED lighting system and the freshly redesigned court. The new LED lights have the ability to synced up with music, and allow for the ability to be turned off and on as well as strobe.

Both projects are part of the more than $1 million in facility upgrades that the department has had on-going over the last year.

Fans can expect familiar acts returning such as the Boom Squad, and new nationally-recognized acts also coming in, including the Red Panda.

Other activations returning this season are the postgame shootaround, which allows kids the opportunity to shoot hoops on the game court after Racer home games, and the Mister B's Best Seat in the House, which is now being moved courtside.

Already one of the top game atmospheres and fan experiences in the nation, the CFSB Center has served as the home of the MSU men's and women's basketball since 1998.

The Murray State men's basketball team led the Missouri Valley Conference in attendance last year in their first season with an average of 5,218 fans per game, while the Racers' women's program averaged more than 1,100 fans per game, a 30 percent increase from the previous season.

This year's campaign begins for the MSU men with a rare exhibition game in Racer Arena Nov. 1 against Brescia. The game marks the Racers' first appearance in the famous arena in 25 years. The season opener for the Racers is at the CFSB Center Nov. 6 against Midway.

The Murray State women's team hosts Lindsey Wilson Nov. 2 at the CFSB Center in an exhibition game, and open the season at home against Cumberland (TN) on Nov. 14.
