It was a McCracken County sweep as both the Lady Mustangs and Mustangs took home trophies as 1st Region basketball champs over the weekend.
It was the first time one school has swept both titles since Marshall County did it in 2012.
The Lady Mustangs won their second-ever title and repeated as regional champs by defeating Marshall County 61-19 on Saturday.
McCracken County finished the year with a perfect 17-0 mark in the region. The Lady Mustangs have won 32 straight in the region after going 15-0 during last year's title run. The last loss against a 1st Region opponent for the Lady Mustangs came in 2021 when they lost to Marshall County in the regional championship.
They will face 5th Region champ Bethlehem in the first round of the girls' Sweet 16 Tournament on Thursday at 12:30pm local time at Rupp Arena.
The Mustangs claimed their fifth-ever title after appearing in their seventh straight title game Sunday defeating Mayfield 46-32.
It was the first title for the Mustangs since 2021.
The Mustangs will face either Elizabethtown or LaRue County out of the 5th Region in the boys' Sweet 16 Tournament on Wednesday, March 15 at 12:30 pm local time.
