A former player of the now-defunct Marion Bobcats baseball team is a world champion.

Travis Jankowski, who played in 2010 when the Bobcats were part of the old KIT League, is a member of the Texas Rangers.

Jankowski was primarly a utility outfielder and, according to The Crittenden Press, had not started a game since early September.

But he was the starting right fielder in World Series games 4 and 5 and had two hits, including a double.

He replaced the injured postseason star Adolis Garcia in the final two games of the Fall Classic.

Jankowski led the KIT League in hitting and stolen bases in 2010.
