The Ohio Valley Baseball League announced on Monday that Hayden Alexander of the Paducah Chiefs won this season's "Gordon Guess Most Valuable Pitcher" award.
Alexander led the league in earned run average (1.77), wins (3 in six starts), strikeouts (52), WHIP (1.24), and batting average against (.196) over 39.2 innings. He also picked up two saves for the Chiefs.
The Mayfield native will play at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, this fall.
The league also revealed that John Paul Head of the Full Count Rhythm is the winner of the "Cubb Stokes Most Valuable Offensive Player Award."
Head dominated the league's offensive statistics. He led the OVL in batting average (.450), runs batted in (47), hits (58), on-base percentage (.574), slugging percentage (.736), and doubles (11). He also finished second in home runs with eight.
Head will be a sophomore at the University of Alabama-Birmingham this fall.
