At least 14 athletes have tested positive for COVID at the Paris Olympic Games, it was reported by the Associated Press.

Paris officials have issued health recommendations regarding the illness, but no strict restrictions were put in place during the Games.

Athletes were allowed to complete if they wished, like U.S. track athlete Noah Lyles.

After he finished third in the 200-meter finals, Lyles said he tested positive for COVID.

This comes in sharp contrast to the Tokyo Games in 2021, which were delayed by one year due to the pandemic, and were held under intense COVID regulations with no spectators.

Just six months later, the Winter Games in Beijing had even more strict protocols because of China's zero tolerance policies.
