Wayne E. Thompson, 76, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Wayne was born on September 15, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas E. and Yvonne (Lewis) Thompson.
Wayne worked as a Logistics Manager for Aladdin as well as Security for the Opryland Park and Hotel for a number of years and remained active after retirement working at the KY Dam Golf Course. He loved all music ranging from the “oldies” to gospel music, traveling to the beach, and playing golf, but the love for his family outweighed all things. Wayne had a strong faith and was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, dad, granddad, and great-granddad. His humor and love will be missed.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Yvonne Thompson, his wife Judi Thompson; sister Carol and brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Donna (Shelby) Thompson; daughters Tammy (Bryan) Smith and Sheila (John) Day, grandchildren Devin, Tyler, Amanda, Nathan, and Dylan; great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Elijah, Penelope, and Lorelai. In addition, he is survived by brothers Lee and Neal; sisters Sue and Joyce along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and golfing buddies.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 4pm-7pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 3pm in the Chapel at Hendersonville Funeral Home with a visitation 1 hour prior. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wayne’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
