Noel Pahl 86 of Gilbertsville, KY passed on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 9:46 P.M. at home surrounded by his wife and family.  

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview City Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military rites conducted by the Herrin V.F.W., American Legion, Freeman Spur American Legion, and Illinois Army Burial Honors Team. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.     

Noel was born in Pittsburg on October 18, 1937 to John and Evelyn Pahl. He married Carol Oliver on November 29, 1957 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Johnston City and on November 29, 2023 they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1959 until 1961 based in Germany with the 4th Armored Division. He worked for the Olin Corporation in East Alton and Marion for over 25 years and finished his career in Moses Lake, WA with the Takata Cooperation. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, KY. Noel was an accomplished singer since childhood and in the mid to late 1950's he sang on television and radio programs and many churches in Southern Illinois. In later years, he enjoyed singing gospel music at church and also weddings for family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his sons and grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Daren and his wife Ellen of Gilbertsville, KY; son, Derek of Gilbertsville, KY; four grandchildren, Trace Pahl, Caleb Pahl, Houston (Ashley) Cruce, and Taylor Cruce; four great grandchildren, Colby, Kinlee, Kennedy and Maggie; one brother, Terry (Diana) Pahl; one sister, Judy (Bob) Lovstad; brother-in-law, William Oliver (Sharon) of Whiteash; and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Ruthie and Tigger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Earnest and Retha Oliver; one sister, Marian White; and one brother, John L Pahl Jr.
