James Earl "Jimmy" Lee passed away on February 8, 2023, in St. Petersburg, Fl from dementia.
Jimmy's favorite exclamation was "good grief", probably because as the youngest of three he gave his mom a lot of it.
Jimmy loved fast cars, especially driving his little red alfa on winding country roads. Most of Jimmy's friends were from high school and his days at Murray State because when Jimmy made a friend, he made them for life.
Jimmy served in Army during the Vietnam War, eventually making the rank of Sargent. He didn't like talking about his service, but anytime he saw a fellow veteran he would stop and talk to them.
He worked most of his life as a carpenter, owning his own furniture finishing business when he lived in Texas. He always returned home to Western Kentucky and his family no matter where life took him.
He spent the last years of his life with his daughter in Florida, and while he often forgot where and when he was, he knew his daughter was until the final stage.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Meryl Elizabeth Lee of St. Petersburg, Fl, and Carson Kleet Lee of Benton, Kentucky; his sister-in-law, Teresa Lee of Paducah; his niece and nephew, Tessa (Steve) Brown of Kuttawa, Kentucky; and Joseph Edward Lee (Jamie) Lee III of Sedalia, Kentucky; and his sister Phyllis Lee (Johnnie) Gentry of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Edward Lee jr; his parents, Joseph Edward Lee sr. and Mary Elizabeth Lee; and his nephew John Brian Gentry.
A memorial will be held at a future date when Jimmy's ashes make their final trip home.
In lieu of flowers, the family donations may be made in the decease's name to Semper Fi & America's Fund, The Alzheimer's Association, or one of your own choosing. Thank you.
