James Curley Moore, affectionately known as “Jimmie”, passed away at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD on Monday, April 14, 2025.

He was born on November 28, 1951 in Paducah, KY to Roberta Young Moore and Clarence Moore. After their deaths in his early childhood, he was raised by his aunt Elizabeth “Bess” Rogers in Hickman, KY where he was a star athlete on the football team at Fulton County High School.

Jimmie graduated from West Kentucky Vocational School and went on to marry Donna Moore Beauchamp, formerly of Paducah, KY, now of Upper Marlboro, MD. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, completing tours of duty during the Vietnam Era at Langley AFB, VA, Shemya AFB, Alaska and Clark AFB, Philippines.

After his service, he returned to Paducah and began a career with the U.S. Postal Service. He took pride in his work and also enjoyed working part-time as a DJ/host of “Pillow Talk” on WKYX. After his career at the post office, Jimmie transitioned into television, hosting “The Jimmie Moore Show” at what is now West Kentucky Community and Technical College where he interviewed community figures and highlighted community services.

Jimmie was a Kentucky Wildcats fan and known for being a never-ending jokester with a quick wit.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters Dorothy Pratt, Helene Latisha Moore, Virginia Faye Moore and Jacqueline Adams; and brothers Clarence Moore, Jr. and David Fisher Rogers. He is survived by: his children, Nate Moore (Ashley) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Angela Moore of North Hollywood, CA and Jacqueline Moore of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Ava Moore and Eliza Moore of Upper Marlboro, MD; sisters Wanda Vinson (Randolph) of Cleveland, OH and Kathy Dillard of Radcliff, KY; and brother Russell Rogers (Helen) of Landover, MD. There are many nieces, nephews and cousins that survive him that he loved very much.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Pope Funeral Home, 5538 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD 20742 with military honors; and on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. 8th St., Paducah, KY 42003
