George Wendell Williams, 75, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 10:18 a.m. Thurs. May 23, 2024 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.
He was born June 8, 1948 in Granite City to the late Dewey and Helen (Whitmire) Williams.
George retired as a supervisor after more than 30 years of service at PSE Metals. He was of the Baptist faith, an avid Cardinals baseball fan and loved to be outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed Andy Griffith and game shows and trying his luck on the slots.
He is survived by a daughter: Cindy (D.J.) Adkinson of Paducah, KY; 2 sons: Donnie (Carolyn) Williams of Eddyville, KY and Jeff Williams of Granite City; 12 grandchildren: Brittany, Paige, Josh, Alyssa, Whitney, Jada, Jasey, David, Dawn, Alex, Ryan and Rachael; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Iva Mae Grant of Sullivan, MO, Winnie Pointer and Rosetta Kuehnel of Granite City and Wanda (Billy) Aitken of Pontoon Beach, IL; and 3 brothers: Cecil Williams, Gerald (Marie) Williams and Wayne (Karen) Williams of Granite City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 half-brothers: Everett and Ralph Williams.
The family will hold a memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Sat. May 25, 2024 at Grace East Church in Pontoon Beach with Pastor Rufus Valencia officiating.
