Priscilla Rae Schanbacher passed away Saturday June 20, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House at age 90, after a brief illness. She was born in Cherokee, OK to Clarance and Doris Green.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, a brother and great granddaughter, Whitley Wade Schanbacher.
 
She is survived by her husband Dr. Eugene Murry Schanbacher, son Gregory Wade Schanbacher of Murray; daughter Logan Anne Ryan “Lori Schanbacher”of Nashville, TN; Grandsons Tyler Wade Schanbacher (Tosha) of Benton, KY; Blake Austin Schanbacher of Almo, KY; Ryan Murry Swanson of San Antonio, TX; David Brett Swanson (Jamie) of Horace, ND; two great granddaughters Cameron Lyn Swanson and Parker Ray Swanson; one great grandson Bryer Wade Schanbacher; and one brother, Charles Green (Mary) of Spannaway, WA and numerous relatives in OK and KS.
 
During her 70 year marriage to ”Gene” Schanbacher, she lived in Wichita, Kansas; Columbia and St. Louis Missouri; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Cartago, Costa Rica and Murray, Kentucky. She was employed as a secretary by the University of Missouri, David King Insurance and First United Methodist Church. She volunteered for numerous organizations: Girl Scouts, church children’s departments, bereavement groups, church and civic missions in KY, TN, MS, LA and Ethiopia. She made donations to a variety of charities; she was known by some as the “Card Lady” having sent many hundreds of greeting cards to uplift people and support worthy causes.
 
Her most important work and desire was to be a Homemaker to the family she loved. She was an
accomplished cook and seamstress. Priscilla loved flowers and music, having sung in the First United Methodist Church choir for over fifty years and was a member of the Outreach Sunday School Class. Her life centered around her family, celebrating special occasions, preparing favorite meals and promoting love and achievement among them. Later in life she enjoyed Word Search puzzles and watching HGTV type programs.
 
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the First United Methodist
Church music department, the Anna Mae Owens Hospice House, Murray Calloway County Hospital Cancer Center or other charitable organizations of your choice.
 
An informal celebration of the life of Priscilla Schanbacher is planned for July 11, 2026, at 2:30 with visitation hours at 1:00 - 2:30 pm prior to the celebration at the First United Methodist Church, 503 Maple Streets in Murray, KY.
