Mr. Ted Lovett, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray after an extended illness.
Mr. Lovett was born in Murray, Kentucky on March 6, 1940, to the late Gentry Lovett and Erma (Parrish) Lovett. Mr. Lovett was employed at Tappan Manufacturing Company in Murray for 19 years and later retired from the Calloway County School System Maintenance Department. After his retirement he focused his time on carpentry while working on many projects alongside his brother Lamon. He was a faithful member of the Union Grove Church of Christ for 64 years and led singing there for many years. He was an Army veteran, had a love for golf, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid fan of Kentucky basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lovett was preceded in death by three brothers; Joel, Wendell, and Damon Lovett; his father and mother-in-law, Howard and Sue Bazzell; two brothers-in-law, Keith Hays and Franklin Andrus; and by three sisters-in-law, Sue Lovett, Bobbie Lovett, and Twila Lovett.
Mr. Lovett is survived by his wife, Nancy (Bazzell) Lovett, to whom he married on July 14, 1962, in Calloway County, Kentucky; one daughter, Wendy Lovett of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Stephen Lovett and wife Sussann of Asbury, Iowa; one sister, Laura Ella Andrus of Murray, Kentucky; one grandchild, Will VanHorn of Muray, Kentucky; three brothers, Cecil Lovett, Lamon Lovett and Rudy Lovett and wife Gwen all of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Bazzell and wife Liz, and Charley Bazzell and wife Dana; and a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Hays all of Murray, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Charley Bazzell and Johnny Parker will officiate, and burial will follow in the Tucker Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
