Bettye J. Miller

Mrs. Bettye J. Miller, age 96, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at her home with her loved ones by her side. 
 
Mrs. Miller was born on May 17, 1928, in Murray, Kentucky to the late Vernon Ross Outland and Oma Etha Lawrence Outland. Mrs. Miller was an entrepreneur having owned many stores over the years to service the community.  From Lad and Lassie, The Happiness Place, Cherry Branch and the The Place, which she owned and operated for over 57 years in Murray, Kentucky before retiring at the age of 90. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church and was a big supporter of their Brazil Missions.   
 
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband of over 75 years, Joe Tipton “Tip” Miller, whom she married on October 31, 1946; one sister, Marion Gray Myers, one brother, J.D. Outland; as well as a great granddaughter, Tinley Miller. 
 
Mrs. Miller is survived by one daughter, Gaye Miller Haverstock and husband Van of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Rick Miller and wife Vicki of Murray, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Justin Miller and wife Tiffany of Murray, Kentucky, Rebecca Miller of Conway, Arkansas, Leigh Haverstock Moric and husband  Damir of Belgrade, Serbia, Megan Haverstock Poston  and husband Jonathan of Murray, Kentucky; as well as seven great grandchildren, Grant Cansler, Kate Cansler, Teegan Miller, Minka Moric, Michael Moric, Peary Poston, and Tipton Poston; one special niece, Melody McIntyre of Murray, Kentucky; as well as one great nephew, Rodney Robinson.  
 
Private family services and burial will be held.
