Reverend Robert Ernest Cozart made the most of his brief stay on earth through his service to mankind. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, while a patient at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky. At the time of his passing, he had acquired 39 years, 3 months and 7 days of life.

Robert was born in Paducah on December 1, 1985, the son of the late Robert Allen Cozart and Carol Annette Story Cozart. He was a graduate of Joppa High School and studied at both Mid Continent and Shawnee Community College. Additionally, he earned degrees in biblical counseling and a doctorate in African American Studies.

He was previously employed as a wound care CNA at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

Robert was a man who truly lived his faith. He was a dedicated member of Just By Faith Ministries in Metropolis, Illinois, and previously served as a missionary overseas. He was known for helping churches in Harrisburg and Metropolis whenever there was a need.

When Robert was not serving the community through ministry, he could be found in the ballpark helping any way he could or watching TV. He enjoyed watching BET along with his favorite character Madea. 

Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Allen Cozart; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Story; his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Cozart and his paternal grandmother, Freda Cozart.

Left behind to treasure precious memories of him are his Mother, Carol Cozart; his Sister Dequita Gibbs, both of Metropolis, Illinois; his Maternal Grandfather, Norris Story of Joppa, Illinois; Two Aunts, Sherry Cozart and Kathy Story (Norris Story, Jr.); One Nephew, Gavin Wilkins, all of Metropolis, Illinois; Two Uncles, John Story of Joppa, Illinois and Neal Cozart of Metropolis, Illinois; and a host of cousins and friends.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Just By Faith Ministries with Reverend Dr. Gwendolyn Duncan and Reverend Deon Wade officiating.  Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
