Lawrence E. Webb, Jr., was a man determined to enjoy life to its fullest. He was born in Metropolis, Illinois, on March 11, 1948, the son of the late Lawrence E. Webb, Sr. and the late Emma Jean McCallister Webb.

After graduating from Metropolis Community High School in 1966, he continued his educational pursuits at Shawnee Community College and Southern Illinois University, where he studied accounting.

Lawrence loved to travel; he especially liked going to Michigan. He liked to read and shop, but the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren.

One of his most admirable qualities was his commitment to his family, his employers, and his community. He was formerly employed at Honeywell as a production operator and worked for the City of Murray as a water supervisor. He also volunteered at the Allied Chemical Credit Union.

Community engagement was important to him. He was a member of the Masonic Family at Lodge 51 in Murray, Kentucky, Jaycees, served as secretary/treasurer of SOAR, and volunteered at Murray City Schools.

He was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. He was a “Jack of all trades.”

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Barry Webb.

Lawrence leaves behind many family members and friends. Among them are his Wife of twenty-seven years, Carrye Webb of Murray, Kentucky; his Children, Joshua Martin of Nashville, Tennessee and DeAundria Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; Special Niece, Erin M. Sanders; Three Grandchildren, Airiel Martin of Paris, Tennessee, Aurora Martin of  Maple Grove, Minnesota, and James Lawrence Noel of Jonesboro, Georgia; Three Brothers, Dwayne Wall of Metropolis, Illinois, Larry (Stephanie) Webb and Dennis Wright, both of Michigan; Five Sisters, Peggy (John) Fears, Lauretta (James) Christy of Pontiac, Michigan, Mona Baylor of Alabama, Tammy Gadson of Michigan and Phyllis (Darrell) Johnson of Florida; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-Laws, and Friends.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Puryear, TN with Reverend Thomas Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Metropolis, IL.

Family will receive friends on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
