Kevin C. Welch took the hand of his Heavenly Father at 1:11 a.m. at Mercy Health Lourdes on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born July 2, 1956, and at the time of his transition had reached the age of 67 years, 8 months and 25 days. Kevin was born to the late Charles (Raz) Welch and Willa Belle Olds Welch in Metropolis, IL.
Kevin was a member of New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and was a 1974 graduate of the former Brookport High School. He retired from LWD, Inc. in Calvert City as a general laborer.
Kevin was a caring man who would do whatever he could to help others. He not only nurtured his daughter, but he also cared lovingly for both friends and neighbors and was affectionately known to many of his family and friends as “The Mayor of Shady Grove”. He loved all genres of music and was an avid fan of the western “Gunsmoke”.
Kevin leaves to mourn his passing: His Daughter, Stacey “Knot” and Son-In-Law, Raymond “Ray Ray” Cobb; Two Grandsons, Kevin Markell “Charge” Welch and Khiland “Jack” Moss, all of Paducah, KY; a daughter, Monica Davis; grandchildren, Zaterrion Harris, Amerionna Gibson and Wilmont Gibson, Jr., all of Paducah, KY; a Son, Brandon Watson, grandchildren, Loryn Young and Bryson Burnett, all of Metropolis, IL; Two Special Daughters, Tasha “Pilla” Lowery of Brookport, IL and Lucretta Grubbs of Clarksville, TN; Two Special Sisters, Lucille “Lucy” Shannon and Dorothy “Dot” Jones, both of Brookport, IL; and a Host of Cousins and Friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; one uncle, William “Sam” Bogan; and two aunts, Jessie Bogan and Alice Alexander.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, 12:00 P.M. at New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Brookport, IL, with Elder Ronnie White and Pastor Michael Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Brookport.
The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
