James Robert Rowland, of Mayfield, Kentucky, peacefully passed away at his residence on Friday, June 6, 2025. At the time of his passing, James had acquired 73 years, 2 months, and 2 days of life.
James was born on April 4, 1952, in Mayfield, Kentucky, the son of the late Otis Rowland, Jr., and the late Linda Laculia Morris Rowland. He was the only boy among the eight children that resulted from the union of their parents.

James was a family man who unselfishly loved both his church family and his biological family, especially his grandchildren. Fishing was relaxing to him. When he wasn’t fishing or watching sports on television, he was known for the pleasure he got out of engaging others in a good debate. He loved all sports, but he passionately favored the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Larry Scott Jackson, one grandson, Larrionne Cooper, and his paternal grandmother, Nora Rowland.
Left behind to cherish fond memories are his Spouse, Karen Lynn Royster, Rowland; Three Daughters, Stephanie Barfield, Wendee Autumn Morris, all of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Chaunce Jordan of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Two Sons, Carlton (Carolyn) Royster and Chaz (Ericka) Jordan of Arlington, Virginia; Eighteen Grandchildren; Five Great Grandchildren; Seven Sisters, Linda Doris (Danny) McClure and Delores Powell, both of Sunnyvale, California, Peggy Morris, Ann Rowland, and Annjanette Rowland all of Mayfield, Kentucky, Rhonda Blake of Paducah, Kentucky, and Tanya (Mike) Dorsey of Jackson, Mississippi; and Special Cousins, Toni Rowland, Nora Lee Rowland, and Nevika Rowland, all of Mayfield, Kentucky; Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
