Jacqueline Anita Spurlin was born January 23, 1937, to Jethel Wall and George Spurlin. of Hopkinsville, Ky. She was the only child born to the couple. The relationship ended and Jackie and her mother moved to the small farm of her maternal grandparents, Mattie and Wade Wall, in Arcadia, just outside of Paducah, Kentucky.

 Entering into both their lives was a tall, handsome, intelligent man from the north side of Paducah named Harold T. Alston. They soon married and he treated Jackie as his own child and raised her as such. Jackie always referred to him as Daddy and to Mr. Spurlin as her biological father. 

Jackie attended Lincoln High School, where she was a good student, a cheerleader, member of the girls' basketball team, and a majorette.

Upon graduating from Lincoln, she attended West Kentucky Vocational School, where she studied Secretarial Practice, While still at WKVS, her best friend, Gwen Davis (Carr), was recruited for a position in Florida as best friends do, Gwen notified Jackie when a job at Walker Elementary School's library became available. Jackie accepted the offer and moved shortly thereafter and never looked back. She steadily advanced ‘in her career and became secretary to the superintendent of Broward County schools. Jackie had a strong work ethic and even refused to take sick leave unless absolutely necessary. She retired in 1994 after more than 40 years of service.

While working in the school system. another handsome intelligent man entered this picture and his name was Artis G. (Jack) Hall. Jackie and Jack married and started a family with Ardis Norine coming first, followed by Anton Gregory.

Jackie loved her church, First Baptist Piney Grove, where she served for over sixty-two years and was politically active in her community for years, carrying signs, and most of all voting and encouraging others to do so.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Artis G. Hall, her son, Anton Gregory Hall, her parents, Harold T. Alston, Sr., her mother, Jethel F. Wali Alston, George Spurlin, two brothers, Harold Alston Jr., and George Ronald Alston.

Those left to cherish her memory; One Daughter, Ardis N. Hall of Lauderhill, FL, One grandson, Jordan Sylvester Anton Hall of Plantation, FL, One granddaughter, LaTrina Jackson of Lauderhill, FL; Several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; Three sisters, Diane Johnson (Marvin) of Memphis, TN, Pamela Vaughn (Clarence) of Boca Raton, FL and Deborah Edmonds (Eddie) of Paducah, KY; One Brother, Bryan Alston (Melanie) of Paducah; Five Sister-In-Laws, Cynthia Alston, Marva Hall, Margaret Marshall, Yvonne Wright, Patricia Hall; Aunt, Constance A. Broyles (Lysanias) and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens
