George D. Simmons was born September 1, 1946, in Town Creek, Alabama. He was the son of the late William Henry Simmons and Dorothy Lee Campbell Simmons. On Saturday, November 2, 2024, George surrendered this earthly life to his heavenly Father while a patient at Baptist Health in Paducah.
George, a self-employed truck driver who also worked for Smith Contracting, was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Paducah. He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of New Greater Love Church.
George was an all-around great dad who loved nurturing his children and grandchildren. Two things he enjoyed were music and fish fry’s. He was also a great mechanic, and he kept his family members’ vehicles in tip top condition.
George truly loved living free from the constraints that life often brings. He was an outdoorsman who had a passion for fishing, cutting grass and hunting, especially deer, rabbits, and squirrels. He enjoyed gardening growing fresh fruits and vegetables every year as long as his health would allow. Other recreational favorites included boating and riding his motorcycle until it was no longer advisable for him to do so.
George was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gary Simmons, and one sister, Henrietta Tivis.
Left behind to cherish sweet memories of George are his Wife of 51 years, Victoria Ann Owens Simmons of Paducah; Four Daughters, Amanda Simmons of Paducah, Jennifer Wilson of Smyrna, GA, Marlana (Reverend Eric) McKinney, and Samantha Simmons, all of Paducah; Nine Grandchildren, Christopher Whitaker, Tyreik Simmons, Darius Dillard, LaShone Brooks, Kennedy Sampson, Immanuel Sampson, Kalik Freeman, Me’Lara McKinney, and Victoria McKinney; Nine Great-Grandchildren, Ja’Kel Simmons, Ja’Kai Simmons, Darius Dillard, Kingston Simmons, Amira Whitaker, Amiya Whitaker, Amir Whitaker, Kaden Whitaker and Kadence Whitaker; Seven Siblings, Robert (Martha) Simmons, Alfordteen Simmons-Freeman, Tommy Simmons, Doris (James) Allen, Peggy (Reverend Michael) Wade, all of Paducah, Gladys Simmons-Ball of Chattanooga, TN; Timothy Simmons of Paducah, Brother-in-law, Calvin R.
