Francis Louise Copeland Thomas, one of God’s children, left this earthly life to join Him in Heaven on Thursday, June 10, 2024 while a patient at Vanderbilt Medical Center of Nashville, TN. At the time of her passing, Francis had acquired an earthly existence of 70 years, 8 months and 17 days.  Born September 23, 1953, in Princeton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Robert Earl Copeland and Mary Francis Morris Copeland.

Francis was a member of Oakalone Christian Church and until recently attended Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist in Paducah. She was formerly employed at Superior Care Nursing Home where she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Francis, an avid UK fan, was both a loving and caring person who enjoyed acting as everyone’s mother.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the utmost and was well known among family members as a “protector.  She always talked to her children about doing the right thing and staying out of trouble.  Francis loved to both cook and bake and was known for her famous “Pork Chops.

Francis leaves loving memories with Her Daughter, Mary Copeland; Two Sons, Elmo Thomas, Jr. and Joe Thomas; Ten Grandchildren, Exzavier Copeland, Fiera Copeland, Jamarion Copeland, Joseph Thomas, Enslee Thomas, Kentin Thomas, Canden Thomas, Bailey Thomas, and Kingston Thomas, all of Paducah, KY; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Four Sisters, Alma Nance of Paducah, Ky, Carol (Lucious) Quisenberry, of Cadiz, KY, Connie Copeland of Eddyville, KY and Janice Faye Johnson of Louisville, KY; A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends; Two Sisters-In-Law, Carolyn Harris and Dorothy Kenner and One Brother-In-Law, Jesse Johnson, all of Paducah, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Thomas, Sr.; three brothers, Ronnie Copeland, Earl Copeland, Jr. and George Jackson; and her parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024, 12 noon at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Calvin R. Cole, Sr., officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
