Donald Gilford Holt, Jr. was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on November 25, 1949. He was the oldest son of eight children born to the late Donald Gilford Holt, Sr. and the late Gertrude DeFrances Oliver Holt.
At the age of 12, Donald gave his life to Christ and became a member of the Church of the Living God CWFF in Paducah, Kentucky. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Donald, affectionately known as Don Jr., was a member of the Paducah Tilghman Class of 1967. He later attended West Kentucky Vocational School studying to become an electrician.
He was employed as a barber at the Classic Cuts Barber Shop in Los Angeles, California, and held licenses as both a barber and a beautician.
Donald was known for his legendary style. He was a “top notch” dresser who loved to socialize, dance, talk, cook bar-be-cue, and entertain. He lived by the philosophy of “family first” and he loved his family tremendously.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter, Ramona Jackson, and one brother, Anthony Jerome Holt.
Left behind to reflect on precious memories of all the joy he brought into their lives are Four Sons, Bradd (Gianella) Johnson of Fontana, California, Donald Keita (Tameka) Holt, Sr. of Jurupa Valley, California, Dionte Holt of Inglewood, California, and Richard LaVar Dillard of Paducah, Kentucky; Three Daughters, Dorothy Nikko Holt, Tysie Milliken and LaDawn White; Four Sisters, Joyce Holt Donelson, Denise “Sheba” Wilson, Cheryl Holt and Chereetta Holt; Two Brothers, Troy Holt and Darrius Shelby, all of Paducah, Kentucky; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and Special Friends Kevin Kilby, Anthony Douglas and Eugene Thomas.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Charles Dunbar officiating with Military Honors conducted.
