Buster Louis Shaw was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on October 1, 1951, to the late Russell Sr. and Ridgie Woodard Shaw. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY at approximately 1:00 a.m. with his grandson, Bryant Shaw by his side.

Buster accepted Christ at an early age at Washington Street Baptist Church. Buster was known for his kind and loving soul and enjoyed a great debate. His warmth touched everyone who knew him. Buster loved God and often repeated “Jesus is Lord”. He had an amazing love for his family, the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and his hometown Paducah.

Buster received his formal education in Paducah, KY. After graduation, he moved to Illinois and began to work for Caterpillar for 30 years. Later Buster returned to school to pursue higher education receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL.

Eventually, Buster decided he wanted to retire and return back home to Paducah, KY where he reunited with many friends and old classmates. This allowed him new opportunities and opened the pathway for him to transition into teaching the younger generation becoming an educator in the Paducah Independent School System.

Buster had a passion for singing with his brothers, history, politics and never missed an opportunity to share with others.

Buster is survived by his children, Sheree Shaw of Tulsa, OK, Lewis Ridgeway of Louisville, KY, Louie Zaron Shaw of Spring Valley, IL, Yoonek Shaw of Sycamore, IL, Menelek (Trevada) Shaw of DeKalb, IL, Aaron Shaw of Atlanta, GA and Samuel (Cristi) Shaw of Taylor TX; Twenty Grandchildren, Four Great-Grandchildren; Forever remembered by his siblings, Russell (Quine) Shaw of Murfreesboro, TN, Chester (Belvia) Shaw of Aurora, IL, Gloria (Harold Bridgeman) of Murfreesboro, TN, Nenner Wright (Atlanta, Ga), Sister-in-Law, Betty Shaw Dekalb, IL; A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to treasure his memories that he loved dearly and his former spouse Norma Ridgeway with whom they shared many cherished memories.

Buster is preceded in death by, his son Isaiah Shaw, his parents, Russell Shaw Sr. and Ridgie Woodard Shaw; granddaughter, Keegan Shaw, maternal grandparents, Isaiah and Niner Woodard Shaw, former wife Betty Shaw, one sister, Dorothy Shaw; two brothers, Isaiah Shaw and Terry Shaw.

Buster will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, 12 noon at Washington Street Baptist Church with Reverend Raynarldo Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
