Kevil, KY Rodney Bruce Nichols, age 68, passed away at Baptist Health on Sunday, March 16, 2025. He was born on March 13, 1957, in Salem, KY to his late parents, Ollie Gene and Norma Jean (Buchanan) Nichols.

Rodney was a 1976 graduate of Heath High School. Growing up he was the protective brother over his sisters and always made his family feel safe. Family was of great importance and what he always prioritized, he enjoyed watching Sunday football with his grandson.

He worked at Jackson Purchase for 27 years until he retired. Rodney, a very intelligent man, had a love for history and could always be found with a copy of the Declaration of Independence in his pocket and loved the state of Montana. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was in charge of running the sound system for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook. Rodney had a very creative side and enjoyed making and creating barn quilts. He loved photography, he would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it.

Rodney is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgia Nichols; a son, Jeff Nichols of Reidland; two daughters, Cheryl Woods (Tracy) of Reidland, KY and Sarah Edwards (Shane) of Paducah, KY; a sister, Tina Johnson (Mike) of Kevil, KY; eleven grandchildren, Kaleb Wyatt (Adison), Dominic White (Kathleen), Allen Hicks, Billy Toney (Alison), Jayden Nichols, Jordyn Edwards (Morgan), Savana Toney, Audrey Woods, Jaxon Nichols, Coraline Nichols and Kace Nichols; three nephews, Brad Lynn, Ethan Johnson and Jake Amis and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lynn; a grandson, Trent Edwards; two nephews, Brandon Lynn and Michael Johnson and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, after 10:00 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Jerry Beyers, Leon Brannan and Rev Jason Medley officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
