LaCenter, KY, Larry Nolen McGullion, aged 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9th at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center surrounded by family. Larry was born on September 5, 1947, in Henderson, KY. Larry led a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity to those who knew him.

Larry moved with his parents to LaCenter, KY at an early age where he resided for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Ballard Memorial High School in 1965. After graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 181. Larry worked throughout his early career as an Operator and even was a boat Pilot for Beasley Construction. Later in his career, Larry made the transition to a Business Agent for the International Union of Operating Engineers. Larry finished his career as an International Representative for the Union.

During this time, you could find Larry at Axe Lake Hunting Club doing what he loved, hunting with family and friends. He loved the water and enjoyed camping at Kentucky Lake. After retirement, he still continued to enjoy the outdoors going fishing in Okeechobee, FL and Grenada, MS. When not fishing, you would find him riding his shiny maroon Trike with Judy, eating and enjoying friends at the Bluegrass, or cruising around LaCenter in his white Jeep.

From a young age, Larry had a God given talent for playing the piano by ear without ever reading a note. He would often get in trouble by his piano teacher for “not paying attention and only wanting to play the "boogie woogie”. He played in the Backwater Band at local events and loved to entertain others and share his love for music. Out of all his accomplishments and hobbies in life he was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Larry attended Barlow Baptist Church and was a member of the Antioch Masonic Lodge #332 and North Ballard Masonic Lodge #537.

Larry is survived by a son; Brad McGullion of Kevil, KY, a daughter; Lorie Anne Fick (Ryan) of Paducah; a brother, David Lee McGullion (Renee) of Casper, Wyoming; Five grandchildren, Maci McGullion (Clay), Cole McGullion (Britta), Max Howard, Rylee McGullion, Regan McGullion; six great grandchildren; Kadyn Story, Kennadi Vaughan, Caroline Vaughan, Brantley Parrish, Nolan McGullion and Waylon McGullion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Marie McGullion.
