Wilburn L. "Duck" Adkins, 78 of Paducah, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL.  He was born on December 4, 1945, in Paducah, KY to George H. and Gladys Pearline Scott Adkins.

He was a proud patriot who served with honor and courage in the United States Army and valiantly in Vietnam.  After serving "Duck" returned to his roots in Paducah, where he embarked on a fulfilling career with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith at Southland Baptist Temple.  Duck's passion for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He found solace and joy in working in his yard, transforming it into a landscape of beauty that reflected the care and attention he put into every aspect of his life.

Above all, Duck's heart belonged to his family. He cherished his grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His legacy of love will continue to resonate through the lives of his family and friends. Undoubtedly, “Duck” would say to his family, “See you later alligator, after a while crocodile...”

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Kay Peeler Adkins of Paducah; a daughter, Angela (Dennis) Heavrin of Kevil, KY; a son, Tony (Maria) Adkins of Paducah; three grandchildren, Parker Feezor, Owen Feezor and Anthony Aaron Adkins; one great-grandchild, Anthony Aiden Adkins along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Joey Dale Adkins and Patrick Keith Adkins; two sisters, Loretta Borden and Delores Funderburk and two brothers, George F. Adkins and Noah W. Adkins.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak with Rev. Jeff Russell officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
