Wayne M. Koster, 98 of Paducah passed away at 5:01 am, October 25, 2023 at Stonecreek Health & Rehabilitation in Paducah
Wayne was born in Equality, IL on April 18, 1925 to George & Velva Prather Koster. He was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy serving from 1943-1946 aboard the destroyer DD-541 USS Yarnall. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer and participated in all of the major advancements in the South Pacific from the invasion of the Marshall Islands Campaign to the end of the war. He was present for the signing of the treaty with Japan. He retired from the Atomic Energy Plant in 1988 after having served 36 years in the maintenance department & sheet Metal shop
He is survived by his 2nd wife, Evelyn Graves Koster of Paducah, KY; three sons, Stephen Koster of Bowling Green, KY, Robert Koster of Austin, TX & Larry Koster of Quincy, IL; nine grandchildren along with several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 62 years, Pola Eugena Strong Koster; a son, Michael Koster; two brothers, Jackie Koster & George Koster.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, October 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, KY with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating. Entombment will follow. Friends may call after 1:30 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 in the Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
