Wanda Jane Cargill Hoskins, born on February 15, 1938, in Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away at her home in Bardwell on April 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Wanda was a lifelong member of the Bardwell Baptist Church and was devout in her faith. Her dedication to civic duty was demonstrated through her role as the former Chairman of the Democratic Executive Committee, where she served with honor.
Known for her unwavering support for the Carlisle Comets, Wanda never missed a game and remained their most ardent fan. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her quiet moments, as she cherished the time spent watching the hummingbirds in her garden. Above all, Wanda’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, providing them with a legacy of warmth and affection that will long be treasured. Her presence and kindheartedness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Danita Hoskins Moore, of Cunningham, Kentucky and Cynthia (Sherri) Hoskins, of Ridge Top, Tennessee; her sons, Michael (Tanna) Hoskins, of Bardwell and Kevin (Cindy) Hoskins, of Cunningham, Kentucky; her sister, Sharon Turner, 11 grandchildren, Brandi Hoskins Hafford, David (Kelly) Hoskins III, Coty (Renee) Hoskins, Tosha (Kris) Arnold, Dylan Moore, David Alan (Julia) Hutchinson, Matt (Jessica) Hoskins, Brett (Andrea) Hoskins, Ember (Jesse) Wright, Hunter (Ashley) Hoskins, and Whitney (Brock) Moran; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, David James Hoskins Sr.; her son, David James (DJ) Hoskins Jr.; sister Carolyn Cargill; grandson Derek Moore; niece Carol Ann Kauffman; and her parents, William and Francis Cargill.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Rev. Cody Hoskins and Rev. Jason Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell. Visitation will also be held from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service time on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
