Thomas J. Smith, 60, born June 5, 1965, in Wyoming to Verna and Penny Schultz Smith, transitioned to heaven on March 9, 2026, at 7:28 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom honorably served his country in the United States Navy as an AT2 (Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class). In that role, he was entrusted with the critical responsibility of maintaining and repairing advanced avionics systems that ensured Navy aircraft and combat weapons systems were mission-ready. His precision, discipline, and commitment to excellence helped protect the men and women who served alongside him and safeguarded the freedoms we all enjoy. Tom carried that same sense of duty and integrity into every area of his life.
Beyond his military service, Tom was known for his steady work ethic, loyalty, and deep love for family. He believed in showing up - for his country, for his family, and for his friends. Whether offering practical advice, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, Tom gave generously of himself. He had a deep love for fishing and treasured the quiet moments spent by the water. Tom was also incredibly crafty and talented with his hands - the kind of person who could build or fix just about anything. His greatest fulfillment came from watching his sons grow into men and from holding his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
Those who knew Tom will remember his quiet determination, his sense of responsibility, and the calm confidence he brought into any room. He lived with honor, humility, and a deep-rooted faith that sustained him throughout life’s challenges.
While our hearts grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing he has found peace and rest. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so fiercely, in the service he rendered faithfully, and in the countless lives he touched through his example.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Tina Smith of West Paducah, Kentucky; his father, Vern Smith of Arizona; his sons, Blake Smith (Ashley) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kyle Smith of Minnesota; his brothers, Terry Smith (Maria) of Colorado and Todd Smith (Elizabeth) of Maryland; and four grandchildren, Charlotte, Lillie, Wrenly, and Graham.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, March 16, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the service hour of 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
