Teresita "Tess" Lopez, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, in Paducah, Kentucky. Born on December 10, 1949, in Dipolog, Philippines, Tess dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years, touching countless lives with her unwavering compassion and expertise.
An active member, she found spiritual solace and community at St. Thomas More and St. John's Catholic Churches. Tess's zeal for life was evident in her love for gardening, traveling, and maintaining an impeccably clean home. Known affectionately as "Amah" to her grandchildren, she forged deep bonds that transcended generations. Tess was proud of her heritage and where she came from, and she instilled that in her kids and grandkids.
Tess approached the world with an open heart, never treating anyone as a stranger and always remembering to celebrate others, marking every special occasion with a thoughtful acknowledgment. Her passion for exercise and a physically active lifestyle kept her vibrant, mirroring the love and energy she poured into every encounter. Tess also enjoyed taking care of her dogs, Scout and Zhao. Tess's indomitable spirit and joyous presence will profoundly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Tess is survived by a daughter, Aimee Palmer of Huntington Beach, California; a son, Alex (Emily) Lopez of West Paducah, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Oscar and Tyler Lopez.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Oscar Lopez; two sisters, Lily Ty and Fe Ty; a brother, Gil Ty; and her parents, Martin Ty and Emeteria Laranjo.
