Sue Lanier, 88 of West Paducah, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Metropolis Nursing & Rehab. She was born on January 26, 1936, in Ballard Co, KY, to Vernon and Ethel Hughes Hatler.

Sue was a retired school bus driver for the Heath School System and her dedication to ensuring the safety and care of countless children on their journeys to and from school left a lasting impact on many generations. A woman of deep faith, Sue was a founding member of Grace Valley Baptist Church in Kevil, KY and her involvement in the church went beyond mere attendance; she was an integral part of the church and a beacon of support for its members. Her faith was her guiding light, and she shared that light generously with those around her.

Sue's love for the outdoors was infectious. She found great joy in fishing and camping, embracing the beauty of nature with enthusiasm. Her hands were rarely still, as she enjoyed sewing, and enjoyed gazing on her flowers and the tranquility they brought to her life. The family was the cornerstone of Sue's world. She was a familiar face at her children's and grandchildren's sports activities, cheering them on with pride and encouragement. Her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and her legacy of love and support will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She is survived by her two sons, Ricky (Robin) Lanier and Steve (Susan) Lanier both of West Paducah, KY; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Val) Lanier of Paducah and Andrew Lanier of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Billie Walker of West Paducah, KY, Janice (James) Frick of Hardmoney, KY and Betty Carter of Draffenville, KY; several great and great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Leslie E. Lanier, and granddaughter, Christina Lanier.
