Sheri Tate, 76, of Reidland, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 15, 2024, at her residence.
It’s hard to write just a few things about someone who was so Wonderful. When I was a kid, she encouraged me to make a lot of friends because she never did (and I do, because of her). My mom oversaw many slumber parties and campfires. For years she drove us kids every week to the skating rink, usually on Friday and Saturday nights. She did all of this while working a full-time job at Hoe Supply for 19 years. Mom loved all kinds of music and it was always playing in the car or at home. Over the years, she fell in love with Keith Urban and said if he asked her to marry him, she would. For the last 35 + years, my stepdad, Jerry, made sure she never needed anything. So much so that the day before a big surgery, he went and bought her a new car just in case something happened to him. I love and miss him tons too!
Her granddaughter, Jessica, will always treasure her childhood memories of eating name-brand cereals and playing games together at Mamaw’s house (that felt like a mansion). Later, when Jessica visited, they enjoyed catching up and telling stories from childhood and travels. Mamaw had a loving and giving heart, always making sure Jessica had anything she needed. Mamaw could make items appear almost out of thin air if Jessica mentioned something. Her big hugs and loving spirit will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Cochran) Frazier, along with her husband, Brian of Gilbertsville, KY and her granddaughter, Jessica Frazier of Cincinnati, OH.
She is also survived by her adopted son, Jim Elrod, along with his wife, Susan of Clarksville, TN; two granddaughters, Rebecca Cochiola and husband Justin and Emily Wison; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Kathryn, William, Briley and Carter. Jim and his family held a very special place in our mom’s heart. We are so thankful they came into our lives many years ago. The last few weeks with Jim visiting have been so nice. We talked, laughed, and cried. Mom enjoyed every moment of it! Until We Meet Again.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Tate; her parents, Kenneth and Florence “Arnty” Winters McDowell and her brother, Kem Joe McDowell.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Mark Edwards II of Twin Lakes Worship Center officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
