Shelby Jean Jones Long, age 85, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bardwell.
Jean was born in Bardwell on May 18, 1939, to the late Homer and Ethellee McCoy Jones. Her life was an embodiment of devotion; as a dedicated mother and grandmother, her family was her greatest pride.
Jean's faith was evident through her membership at the Bardwell Church of Christ, where she served and worshipped throughout her life. A passionate sports enthusiast, she rallied behind the University of Kentucky and Carlisle County Comet basketball teams.
Shelby is survived by her son, Terry (Cindy) Long of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Patricia Elliot of Bardwell; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Long; two sons, Gary Long and Larry Long; her sister, Kay Green; her brother, Michael David Jones; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the funeral home.
