Sandra K. Bates

Sandra K. Bates, age 60, of Paducah, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Mercy Health Lourdes.
 
Sandra was born in Eldorado, Illinois on March 3, 1962 to Thelma Scott Beavers.  She was easy going with a servants heart.  She worked as a CNA for many years in different nursing homes and the residents became her extended family.  Sandra loved spending time with her family playing board games or cooking them family dinners.  Though she had recipes, she would modify each one to make it her own.  She made sure each family member got their favorite dish and dessert for their birthdays.  Sandra’s carrot cake was always a family favorite.  Sandra and her sister, Betty, have been best friends since she was a small child.  Betty helped in raising Sandra creating an inseparable bond between the two.  Though Sandra loved her family dearly, being Nanaw to her grandson gave her the most joy. 
 
Sandra is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Waldrop (Dennis) of Paducah, Katlyn Bates of Paducah; one grandson, Bryce Hohimer of Paducah; one sister, Betty Partain (Herald) of Golconda, Illinois; two brothers, Randy Vanhooser of Anna, Illinois, Brad Edmondson (Kathy) of Jacksonville, Flordia ; three nephews, Michael Hughes, Jr. (Judi, Kevin Hughes and Zachary Vanhooser.
 
She was preceded in death by her mother and two brothers, Earl Dewayne Vanhooser and Danny Vanhooser.
