Ron Hawes, age 73, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Ron was born in Paducah, Kentucky on November 27, 1949 to the late Alves and Lounella Seay Hawes. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was in the 1967 graduating class at Reidland High School. Ron worked for over thirty years as an Account Executive for 93.3 WKYQ “The Rabbit” Radio. Earlier in his career he worked as a DJ for WDXR radio. Ron’s love for music was evident in his career. He loved all genres of music, attended broadcasting school in Nashville, and spent several years as DJ Rockin’ Ron. He was an avid antique collector and loved refinishing and finding new life in old things. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Ron dearly loved his son Chase, his family and friends and will be missed by all who loved him.
Ron is survived by his son, Chase Hawes of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Doris Spejewski (Gene) of Portage, Indiana, and Virginia Gockel of Clinton Township, Michigan; two brothers, Marvin Hawes (Carol) of Hale, Michigan, and Danny Hawes (Maria) of Warren, Michigan; three grandchildren, Dylan William Hawes, Beckett Wayne Hawes, and Kinleigh Brooke Hawes; and best of friends, Rose Sharer of Paducah and Roxana Langston of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter “Buster” Hawes; and his beloved Boston Terrier and constant companion, Lucy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Joe Weitlauf officiating. Military Honors will follow.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
