Robert W. Gentry, aged 79, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at his residence in Paducah, Kentucky. He was born on February 25, 1946, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to the late Merrill Rainey and Ava Rae Burkett Gentry. Robert was a man of integrity, intelligence, and ingenuity, whose life was marked by his dedication to his work, his faith, and his love for building and fixing things.

A proud graduate of Mississippi State University, Robert earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and went on to establish a successful career as a Professional Engineer, operating his own engineering firm, RWG Engineering, both in the Calvert City area and throughout the southeast in the later part of his career. His professional achievements were numerous, and he was respected by his colleagues for his problem-solving abilities and his commitment to excellence.

Robert was of the Baptist faith, serving many congregations throughout his life. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, and he lived it out through his actions and his unwavering support for those around him.

Those who knew Robert understood his passion for tinkering and creating. He was the quintessential fix-it man, never happier than when he was in his shop, tools in hand, immersed in a new project. His skills were not just a hobby but a way of life, as he generously offered his time and talents to anyone in need.
 
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dayne Taylor Gentry of Paducah; a son, Jeffrey (Jimilee) Gentry of Paducah a daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Tucker of Paducah; his four grandchildren, Kaleb Robertson, Claire Tucker, Konnor Gentry and Calvin Tucker; his four siblings, Tommy Gentry, Larry (Lee) Gentry, Merilyn Gentry and Ginny Gentry along with several nieces and nephews.
 
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Turnage.
 
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Katie McKown officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM on April 12, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
