Robert Lee Wilson, aged 96, of Paducah, Kentucky, a revered veteran and beloved member of the Paducah community, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on January 31, 1929, Robert dedicated his life to crafting his skills as a self-employed roofer and mechanic, enriching his surroundings with his workmanship.
His love for the outdoors was eclipsed only by his pride in having served his country, working on an aircraft carrier as a young man. Robert's post-military career included contributing his mechanical expertise to Yellow Transit, specializing in Semi engines.
Ice skating was Robert's passion, and he shared his skill and joy for the sport as an enthusiastic instructor, touching many lives. Robert's zest for life and steadfast work ethic will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know him. He has left an indelible mark on his community through service, teaching, and friendship.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Clarissa (David) Pyle of Paducah; and two sisters, Idena Walker of Compton, California, and Odessa Farquhar of Merrimack, New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elwanda Milby Wilson; two sisters, Mable Niewoehner and Irena Griscom; and three brothers, Grover Wilson, Lewis Wilson, and Theodore Wilson.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
